Come create the Peace and Plenty Community Park!
September 9th from 7:30 AM - 3:00 PM and/or September 11th from 8:00 AM - 3:00 PM
Neighbors have been working for more than a decade to create the Peace and Plenty Community Park. On September 11th, 2008, it's finally happening! Thanks to Home Depot and KaBoom!, we are holding a one-day community-building event to create a new playground and community space in an area where there are few safe, beautiful places for children to play.
A 10,000 square foot vacant lot, formerly the home to much illegal activity, is being transformed into a beautiful green space for local children to play and for the community to get to know each other.
There will be over 250 volunteers, and we are responsible for signing up 75 of them. Please help us make this project a reality!
This is a one-day build project. By the end of the day, our neighborhood will have a brand new playground!
This is an excellent community service opportunity for all, and a great way to make a positive impact in a neighborhood in need.
There are opportunities for people of all abilities and ages.
If you have a little building know-how and can do some heavy lifting, we would love to have your help preparing the site on September 9, 200. If you can be there both days, we'd love to have you as a "Build Captain" to help prepare the site on the 9th and lead a volunteer crew on the 11th.
